79%* of Australians believe investment decisions (inclusive of their own) can influence the state of our environment and society. Also, in terms of issues of interest and concern:
- Key issues of importance for Australians when investing money can include renewable energy and energy efficiency, sustainable water management and use, healthcare and medical products, healthy river and ocean ecosystems, sustainable land and agricultural management, and education.
- Key issues Australians want to avoid when investing money can include animal cruelty, tobacco, weapons and firearms, human rights abuses, gambling, environmental degradation (land, water, air), companies that don’t pay their fair share of tax, and labour rights abuses.
As such, when it comes to investment portfolio construction, one consideration can be around an investor’s desire to align their investment values with their personal values.
