Enduring guardianship

With the power of this role, it’s essential to choose a guardian you trust and believe will make the best decisions for you.

You may also have a guardianship for young children. If a mother and father die together and leave behind a young child, they may want to nominate who they would like to raise the child. Please note: When it comes to guardianship instructions for children, this is usually established in the parents Will.

Depending on physical and financial wellbeing, the child’s grandparents may or may not be the best people to raise a child who is a lot younger than they are.

It’s important to discuss your wishes with people you wish to act as guardian.
