The insight of ‘should’
If your feelings included fear, obligation and restriction, you have identified protective beliefs.
If your feelings included choice, possibility and opportunity, you have observed liberating beliefs.
Protective or liberating, the word ‘should’ provides insights into your current beliefs and those of others.
The word ‘should’ doesn’t provide a truth, it provides an opinion.
Taking this one step further, the word ‘should’ also locks in beliefs through obligation. Most people find it difficult to operate with energy and enthusiasm when they are feeling obliged.
Tip: removing ‘should’ from your language helps change undesireable beliefs.
