Residential Aged Care

Family Home Considerations

Selling your home
The decision to sell your family home when entering a residential aged care facility is likely to be a difficult one, especially if it has been your place of residence for the majority of your life.

Often the decision whether to sell the family home or keep it may come down to your requirement to meet the expected costs of aged care services as laid out by your aged care service provider. The accommodation payments can come in the form of either a lump-sum style ‘refundable accommodation deposit’ (RAD) and/or rental-type payment called a ‘daily accommodation payment’ (DAP).
