Holidays and visiting family/friends
You can leave your residential aged care facility for up to 52 days per financial year; however, you will still be required to pay for your relevant daily fees and income-tested fees. Furthermore, during these periods of absence the Government will continue to pay the applicable subsidies to your aged care service provider.
Admittance to hospital
In the event that you need to be admitted to hospital, this type of absence from the residential aged care facility does not count towards your 52 days of leave per financial year. However, you will still be required to pay your relevant fees and the Government will still pay the applicable subsidies to your aged care service provider.
